The Ani Kyd Blues Experience is Ani's new project and direction with a combination of old slide guitar, delta blues, swing style torch, country, and a bit of jazz.
Her band
is a much more scaled down four piece than anything she is used too,
with stand-up bass (Brian Thalken), a small Buddy Rich-type drum kit
(Stuart Quayle) and a steel slide guitar sound that brings you back to
the bayou (Pat Berthelotte). And of course, Ani Kyd on vocals, with her
trademark sultry style that suits the blues more then anything
else she's ever done.
Ani is a very open-minded musician with many tastes in music and art. The blues has always been close to her heart. Even on her 2005 release on Alternative Tentacles - "Evil Needs Candy Too" - she put on a couple of her solo slide guitar songs.
"I feel that this new band is right where I want to be. I am not an angry punk kyd anymore. Maybe a bit more jaded and mellow and that's where the blues fits in. My experiences have brought me full circle, right back to the blues, one of my first loves. Pat and I met in a chance meeting and started working together in July of 2008 and the feel was so right. Then Stuart and Brian joined the pack and the sound was complete." - Ani Kyd
