media: interviews by slowbellie...

an interview with: joel denver

SB: Joel, when you look at your business, what are you most proud of?

Joel Denver: With out a doubt, it is my staff. They are smart, to the point – and we try to run a good ship.

SB: I know that every time I have had a question, someone has gotten back to me.

JD: We try to get back to everyone – because yeah you never know what could be happening on the other end of line. We have seen some great things come to radio just by returning calls – who knows what you find in the land of the unknown?

SB: Do you think that the record labels and radio stations are going to be put under by sattelite radio?

JD: Well, there have been some big changes. I used to work with over 50 record labels. Now, there are 5. Radio will save itself by developing a hand-held/cell phone type of thing where you can get LA radio while you are in New York.

SB: Sort of like the old transistor radio.

JD: Some type of hand-held.

SB: What do you think of the current crappy, over-processed music scene of today? I mean, when is real rock going to come back?

JD: People ask me that all the time. If I knew that, I would not have to work here every day. Who knows? Music is music.

SB: Okay, what is in your cd player now?

JD: Bob Marley.

SB: Hmmm, need we say more... thanks for taking the time to talk to us today.
